Britney Spears ‘Circus’ Concert Review

Let me preface this review by saying I saw this same tour back in April. I paid a good amount of money for the tickets and left feeling bitter, annoyed and disgusted. It wasn’t a show, it was a fat girl walking from one side of the stage to the other while Britney Spears songs played. I was especially annoyed by how obsessed and in love with the concert EVERYBODY was. I felt as if everyone was satisfied with her performance just because she was actually standing and remembered the words to her own songs. I on the other hand judged the concert as if it were any other concert therefore I HATED it.
When Britney announed that she was coming back to LA, I laughed and said to myself ‘Who would be stupid enough to but tickets to see that mess again?’ Little did I know that a series of strange events would lead me to that very concert. After finding out Ciara would be opening for her, I was determined to win tickets so I could see Ciara perform ‘Work’ live. Magically, my brother won tickets for me from AMP Radio. I was ecstatic and was coming up with an exit plan for how I’d leave after Ciara’s set. Well as luck would have it that idiot Jordin Sparks. Greeeaaat!
Headed over to the Staples Center with Dave and ate at that delicious resturant that I ate at before Miley. I’m obsessed with that place but can’t seen to remember the name. Anyways, we got to our seats just as Kristinia (’Goodbye’) finished her set. Darnit! Next up was Jordin Sparks who like Miley looked EXACTLY like Jordin Sparks. Must be a new trend. She was awkward. She kept huffing and puffing and at one part she even stopped to tell the crowd ‘Sorry I keep breathing so hard, I’m wearing heels and this stage is sooo big.’ Suuure Jordin, sure.
During the intermission we got a Coke Zero which tasted just like blood. Sat and watching the incredible yet boring Big Apple Circus. Finally it was time for Brotney and as her intro video began, I found myself strangely excited. She began lowering down to the stage and it felt as if the arena was going to collapse.
Britney was much more on point, her moves were much more crisp and her face always had a smile on it. I was weirdly really into the show even though it was the same mess that I despises just a few months prior. I think it was because my expectations were so dreadfuy low that it was impossible for me not to be just a little impressed. Like Snakes on a Plane and I Know Who Killed Me, I convinced myself into enjoying the concert in a joking fashion. My method ended up working out really well surprisingly.
My FAVORITE Britney moment of the night was when she missed her que and had to crawl on all fours at turbo speed to get to her mark. It was like a glamorous version of The Grudge. The image is forever burned into my mind.
Overall, I had a blast at the concert. It was good, silly, brainless fun but fun nonetheless! Good job BritBrit
