World Premiere of Bandslam
It doesn’t matter how terrible a film looks, how much I know for a fact I’ll hate the movie at all costs, if I get tickets to a premiere and there’s SOMEBODY……..ANYBODY in the film, I will go no matter what. I love going to premieres! They’re not nearly as glamorous as they’re made out to be, they’re really anti-climactic but I love going to them just because it’s a fun social event. All of my friends get to get together, we get to see a movie, meet our favorite stars and get free popcorn and soda and the best part out of all of it is the fact that it’s FREE! So when my brother informed me that he got me tickets to the premiere of Bandslam, I was ecstatic!
I invited the usual gang over the weekend and we were all so excited to meet Vanessa Hudgens. That was until the day before the premiere when a second set of Vanessa Hudgens nude pics leaked onto the internet. I immediatley thought about not going at all. There was NO way that Vanessa Hudgens would possibly go to a movie premiere the day after such an embarrassing event. I thought about what I would even do if I met her again. I thought that it was likely that I’d be so embarrassed for her that I would just faint then wake up and cry and then shake my head. Now in my opinion the second batch of nude pics were taken AFTER the first set of pics but BEFORE the first sets of pics were ever released. So what I’m saying is, YES Vanessa Hudgens did take nude pics for several years but when people say “Didn’t she learn her lesson?” “How could she do that again?” “Whore” I think thats pure ignorance! I still am going to give the girl a break. So before we even got to the premiere, I warned all my friends that there was a STRONG chance that Vanessa either wouldn’t be attending the premiere or would just take photos on the carpet and leave. Little did I know that Vanessa would be the FIRST person to arrive onto the carpet….something NO celeb does when they’re the main star of the film.
So after watching a lot of the red carpet arrivals, we decided to head in. P.S. Lisa Kudrow in person is NOT a pretty sight. We went to the same middle school so I was excited to meet her but that prune-faced goblin was not very excited for the camera/being seen by the public. Just had to get that off my chest haha . She was rude to Katrina so that’s where my anger comes from. Witch! So it turns out I was wrong . Vanessa not only went and met many of the fans waiting outside for her but she went inside the theater to watch the film as well. We were able to catch up with her in the theater!
She was all smiles and very nice when we met her. I felt absolutely horrible! I think she’s well aware that EVERY single person in the theater and those that came to Westwood had seen the pictures. It was almost as if she was really hurting inside but kept a smile on her face to pretend that she wasn’t hurt from the incident. It was quite literally the elephant in the room but I think that if she continues being strong then she will likely get past this again. The only thing that bothers me is I feel that her approach to ignoring the pictures and plastering a smile on her face gives support to those that think Vanessa leaked the pictured for publicity purposes. I’ve gone on many rants why this isn’t true at all. Here’s a summed up version.
Argument: Celebrities try to become famous by releasing a sex tape/nude pics in order to generate an extreme amount of publicity for themselves and skyrocket them to stardom. Many offenders of this have included Paris Hilton, Pamela Anderson, Kim Kardashian and Vanessa Hudgens.
Why It’s Not True: I think if you were to look at the celebs that somehow give credibility to this argument then you will realize that not many people would want to be in their position. First off, Paris Hilton is regarded as a slut. She will ALWAYS be regarded as a slut, no matter what charity she donates to or what rescue mission she goes to in Africa. She will always be “THE SLUT.” No one is able to take Paris Hilton seriously because her first introduction to popular culture was through a sex tape. The same goes with Kim Kardashian. I know many people, including my brother, are disgusted every time they see Kim Kardashian. She is also regarded as a slut, whore, easy, etc., etc. No matter what they do, the first thought most people think of Kim K and Paris will be a flash of them having sex . They will never be able to be taken seriously and their reputations are forever tarnished. Why would anyone want to subject themselves to such public ridicule and scrutiny? Why would anyone– other than porn stars– want their most private parts to be made public for the whole world to see? Why would anyone want to be known as a slut? It’s just illogical. Why would Hudgens put her entire reputation in front of scrutiny again to promote Bandslam?
Fact: Hudgens already received her check for acting in Bandslam, regardless of whether the film makes $1 million or $100 million. Hudgens will be getting the same check. The film is far from being anything for her to be proud of or have some desire to showcase her acting abilities. So why would she leak more nude photos to try and stir up publicity for such a crappy film?
The other thing to take into mind is that of Vanessa’s sponsors– and boy does she have a lot–Neutrogena, Sears and Ecko. She’s getting millions of dollars for these contracts and is obligated by contract to act as a role model for all of her fans. Why would she jeopardize these million dollar deals to create publicity for Bandslam???? Why lose millions to try and get people to see a film which won’t do any better with or without this added publicity.
Lastly, the only people that would be drawn to these photos are men, men, and older men. The target audience for Bandslam is far from being 65 yr old men. The actual audience for the film are girls from the ages of 8-14 whose parents would prevent them from seeing the film if they knew that its star continued in such lewd behavior so therefore the creating publicity for the film argument is completely ridiculous and she not even be considered. Alright back to the premiere.
We ran into David Henrie aka “The Next Shia” but I don’t think he’s as talented as Shia but he is a really funny nice guy

Aly is the other star of the film. She’s also very nice and gracious.
The person I was most excited to meet at the premiere was Charlie Saxton. Charlie appears in my current favorite show on television, Hung. I was randomly most starstruck when I spoke with him haha it was strange!

We decided that the lack of celebs meant that we had to create our own celebs. I think that the environment at a premiere is so crazy that people don’t realize who is a celebrity and who isn’t. Therefore we decided if we nominated one person to be a designated celeb and bombarded them with autograph and photo requests then we were likely to trick the people around us into thinking that the designated person was an actual celeb. We chose Katrina and these are our fan pics with her haha

All of these kids mean the WORLD to me! We had such a blast but the night wasn’t over yet. Oh wait, I didn’t even mention how TERRIBLE Bandslam was. Please please avoid it at all costs. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it’d be. The ideas were good but the overall execution was TERRIBLE. And when will competition/sports films learn that have a huge tournament at the end learn that the “not giving the trophy to the underdog team or the favored team but instead an obscure team “ is just as cliche as allowing the underdog team to win. I hate hate HATE that ending especially when its not warranted at all. The best part of the film was the fact that the legendary David Bowie makes a cameo at the end of the film. I was baffled by how they possibly got David Bowie but then found out through my friend Emily that his daughter is a HUGE High School Musical fan so it all made perfect sense! Alright I need to stop talking about the film and get back to the night. We met up with Dave and Diane and went to dinner at Yamato.

At dinner, I noticed that Katrina and Ian were very depressed. It was probably at the thought of knowing they wasted so many hours of their lives watching Bandslam. Unfortunate really!
After dinner we decided to have a mandatory RALLY BOP party!!!! Rally bop is the new trend if you didn’t hear. The video below hopefully gives some explanation to the picture above.

We then continued to have a photoshoot on the top of the parking lot in Westwood because it’s pretty much what we always do.
All in all, it was a fantastic night! Even though the move was terrible, we were able to suffer through it all TOGETHER! And that’s what really counts. Remember children, WE’RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!!!!!
